With over a decade of experience in medical communications, Andrea combines a sound scientific background with a natural flair for the written word. Andrea has a proven track record in understanding and responding to the particular challenges faced by our clients, both in the pre- and the post-launch settings. She has worked with many clinicians, nurses, and patients to produce numerous materials tailored to the knowledge of the target audience.
Rachael has a strong academic background with the University of Birmingham. She made the move into medical writing because of her love of science communication and her desire to apply her skills in as many new areas as possible. She is diligent and hard-working, and is always keen to take on new challenges. Outside of work, Rachael loves to indulge her creative side and also enjoys running.
Having completed an MChem in medicinal chemistry at the University of St Andrews, Lisa went on to study for a PhD in chemical biology at the same university. After a 2-year postdoc based in Finland, she decided it was time to pursue her interests in writing and science communication. Lisa thrives on new challenges and working under pressure, and enjoys working in such a dynamic industry.
After starting as an editor in scientific publishing, Gillian moved into medical communications and has now been a medical writer for several years. She has extensive experience creating different types of publications, meeting materials and digital resources, and can be relied upon to deliver concise, well-written scientific material, whatever the specification.
Emma joined the medical writing team at Porterhouse Medical in 2006, and prior to this she worked in medical publishing for 7 years. This experience means she is able to turn her hand to writing, editing and proofing. She is reliable, thorough, and has a keen eye for detail.
Erica is an enthusiastic and hard-working member of the Porterhouse Medical team who brings together a wealth of oncology expertise and pharmacology know-how. Prior to joining Porterhouse, she gained a PhD in cancer biology and subsequently worked as a molecular pharmacologist. She can apply her skills to any therapy area to deliver high‑quality and accurate material.
Anjlie graduated with distinction from Imperial College School of Medicine, but although she enjoyed studying medicine, she had doubts about whether to continue in a patient-facing role. While researching alternative careers, she discovered the wonderful world of medical writing and that, by pursuing this at Porterhouse Medical, she could build on her medical knowledge while indulging her passion for writing.
Prior to working at Porterhouse Medical, Carol completed a PhD in cancer immunology and immunotherapy at the University of Southampton. During her PhD she developed an interest in scientific communication and decided on a career in medical writing, joining Porterhouse in October 2014. Her attention to detail, dedication and ability to remain calm under pressure enable her to consistently produce high-quality work.
Emma joined Porterhouse Medical after 10 years in academia specialising in dementia and genetics. She has written for and presented to a wide range of audiences, including pharmaceutical companies, clinicians, academics, patients and the general public, and so is adept at preparing the most appropriate type of document for any situation.
Jamie holds an honours degree in biomedical science from the University of Sheffield. Prior to joining Porterhouse Medical, he worked as a team leader for a forensic DNA testing company. He is a hard-working individual, with a passion for science, writing and the arts. Outside of work, Jamie enjoys playing and watching sport and travelling across the world, and is a keen musician.
While studying biochemistry at the University of Southampton and completing a research internship in neuroimmunology, Amanda discovered a flair for science communication and a passion for healthcare. After graduating, she joined Porterhouse Medical as an associate medical writer, a role that allows her to combine these interests while remaining at the forefront of medical research.
Alice graduated with a first-class honours degree in biomedical science from King’s College London. Prior to joining Porterhouse Medical as an associate medical writer, she worked as an editor for a scientific publishing company. She is hard-working, conscientious and always strives to achieve her best.
Madeleine gained a DPhil in molecular genetics from the University of Oxford, winning several awards along the way for scientific presentations. She moved into medical communications to exploit her flair for communication while remaining at the forefront of medical research, and brings her knowledge of genome editing techniques to the team. In her spare time, Madeleine loves to be outdoors and competes in equestrian sport.
Since graduating from the University of Sheffield in 2014 with a degree in biomedical science, Rose has pursued a career in medical writing. She is calm and hard-working, and enjoys doing a job that allows her to combine her passions for writing and medical science. In her free time, Rose likes spending time outdoors and rock climbing.
Rosemary joined Porterhouse Medical as an associate medical writer, having graduated with an MBiochem from the University of Oxford in 2017. While studying, she developed her love of writing through involvement with student science magazines and writing competitions, and moved into medical writing to combine this with her passion for healthcare. In her spare time, she enjoys running and hiking.
Beth graduated from the University of Oxford in 2016 with a bachelor’s degree in cells and systems biology. Her studies were focused on areas of molecular and cellular neuroscience, but she maintains a broad interest in medicine and pharmaceuticals and enjoys taking a critical approach to science. In her spare time, Beth enjoys volunteering and travelling.
Beth graduated from St Bartholomew’s and the London School of Medicine and Dentistry in 2001 and worked in the NHS as a pathologist until 2015. She holds a BSc in psychology and a PGCE, and, after extensive experience teaching medicine, she decided to pursue a career in medical writing. In her spare time, Beth enjoys salsa dancing, Zumba and keeping up with her two (very energetic!) boys.
Stephanie graduated with a first-class degree in pharmacology from University College London. Following this, she worked as an editorial assistant before joining Porterhouse Medical as an editor, and her excellent attention to detail means that her editing and formatting work is of a consistently high standard.
Emma has a first-class degree in natural sciences, combining biology, mathematics and Spanish. She spent 15 months working on the editorial team of a medical communications agency before joining Porterhouse Medical as an associate editor. Her interest in science and languages means that she not only enjoys editing but is also good at ensuring medical materials are accurate and well written.
