Rob Pilbrow, one of Porterhouse’s veteran members of staff, enjoyed a double celebration this month after being promoted to the role of Group Director, Editorial Services, and winning the accolade of ‘Role Model’ in the Champion of Change category at the Women in Business Awards 2016!
Rob joined Porterhouse in 2005 as a Trainee Medical Writer, and quickly demonstrated his flair and passion for medical writing as he rose up through the ranks. In 2013, he was promoted to the role of Editorial Team Leader, followed by Editorial Services Director in 2014, roles that saw him managing a team of all-female medical writers and shaping the direction of one of our single largest accounts. As a member of the Senior Management Team, Rob has been instrumental in implementing a number of big changes within the company, including the development of our purpose and values, and a more strategic approach to recruitment, development and training.
Speaking at the Women in Business Awards 2016, host Tamsin Napier-Munn of The Business Magazine praised Rob as “an advocate of flexible working for parents of young families”. She further went on to explain that Rob has been recognised because he is “a firm believer in supporting women to meet their full potential”, and because he was instrumental in “developing a vision and values for Porterhouse, and making them a reality for both staff and customers”. She said, “Rob has worked with his team to develop a flexible approach to working that meets the needs of both employees and clients. Through effective communication and engaging the right mindset, the business has won an award from Investors in People and a Queen’s Award for Enterprise”.
When questioned about Rob’s contribution to Porterhouse, Operations Director Alison Washer said, “Rob is a great example of someone who has made their career at Porterhouse, progressing to senior management level and making a number of hugely important changes along the way. He is influential in helping to shape the future direction of the company, and we are all very excited about his plans for further development of the Editorial Department in his new role of Group Director for Editorial Services. We couldn’t be more proud of him”.
